Mayor of Amman and President of the Jordanian Circassian Charity Association Attend Celebrations in Nalchik

High-level delegations from the Greater Amman Municipality, headed by the Mayor of the City, Aqel Beltaji, an open Circassophile, and the Circassian Charity Association of Jordan, headed by the President Senator Sameer Qarden, are taking part in the celebrations in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic of the Day of the Republic, the Day of the City of Nalchik, and the Day of Knowledge. It should be mentioned that Nalchik and Amman are bound by solid twinning ties. One of the aims of the visit is to strengthen this relationship even more.

On the morning of 1st September a ceremony was held in front of Administrative Building of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU). In their speeches, the guests unanimously noted a significant contribution of Kabardino-Balkaria, and, in particular, the KBSU, in the maintenance of fraternal relations between the peoples of Russia and Jordan.

“Dozens of Jordanian students who graduated from the Kabardino-Balkarian State University now play an important role in the life of our country, and hold high government positions both in the Kingdom and in its Foreign Ministry. We congratulate the administration, students, and teaching staff of KBSU, and indeed all the people of Kabardino-Balkaria, on today's auspicious Holiday, and we hope that our good relations will only grow stronger over the years,” said Beltaji.

The festivities were attended by the Head of the Nalchik City Administration, Mohamed Kodzokov, the Rector of KBSU, Barasbi Karamurzov, representatives of republican authorities and the public, and university students.

An alumni club of the Jordanian graduates (overwhelmingly Circassian) of the KBSU was established earlier this year, and a few of the members of the club were also invited to attend the celebrations.

The Jordanian delegations later met with the board of the International Circassian Association (ICA), and its President Hewtiy Sex'wroqwe, and they discussed the relationship between the two countries and the situation of the Circassians in Jordan.

On the evening of 1 September, the Jordanian delegations attended the festive meeting and the concert of national music and dance held at the Green Theatre, Nalchik, to commemorate these occasions.
